Did you say Muti-Platform and Multi-Browser support?

Brian and I have started to incorporate the latest TeamDev libraries into Watij. During this process we are trying re-evaluate another product by TeamDev that could actually boost Watij to a whole new level. This new product would give Watij the ability to be multi-platform (windows, osx, linux) and multi-browser (ie, firefox, safari). I know thats saying a mouthful and we are still very early in the process of evaluating the technology. But wow..

Watir will use Webdriver in the future. It could be interesting to you too. Take a look:

    Good news indeed …

would that include Safari running on iPhone?

Issam, no it wouldn’t include Safari on the iPhone. But you could run your iPhone Safari webapp just through Safari and test it that way couldn’t you?

This would be TOTALLY awesome. I have an application that frequently freezes with the IE status line indicating “(1 item remaining…). The application appears to be fully loaded but for some reason IE things there is 1 more item to load. As a human I just ignore the status bar and continue using the web application. At Watij, I hang waiting for IE to tell me it is done.

Because of this, I have been forced to abandon Watij and use another test tool. The transition has been painful. I miss the wonderful APIs Watij supplies. :(

If you could get this working on Firefox or anything besides IE I could consider going back to Watij!!!

Is there someone way I can keep track of what is going on? Do you need any beta testers?

Well I have spent a few hours over the past few days with the the JxBrowser product that TeamDev offers and at this time it will not be adequate to do what we need for use in watij. Its designed to embed a ie,ff,safari compatible browser within an swing component. Initially I thought we could use this product to drive those browsers but it doesnt look like JxBrowser provides a comparable driver like their IEAutomation class. I may take a look at WebDriver to see if it could maybe help as well. The quest continues!

Is there anything out of the ordinary on your app? Does it have embedded flash objects or pngs or something like that?

  8. Jake Dempsey Says:

Also is the app on the web where I can help track down the issue so you can get back to using watij!
